Troubleshooting

Bluetooth device not showing in a scanner

A missing device is not automatically an app failure. BLE scanning depends on the accessory broadcasting a discoverable packet that reaches the iPhone, while iOS permission and Bluetooth are enabled.

Short answer

Move the target close to your iPhone, charge or wake it, enable Bluetooth permission for BLE Detector, and disconnect it from another phone. Then restart the scan and wait at least several seconds.

01

Before you start

  • The accessory is powered on.

  • It supports Bluetooth Low Energy, not only Bluetooth Classic.

  • It is advertising while disconnected or in its current mode.

  • The iPhone is within practical indoor range.

  • BLE Detector has Bluetooth access in iOS Settings.

If it does not appear

!

Bluetooth Classic only

A BLE scanner cannot necessarily list a device that uses only Classic Bluetooth discovery.

!

Already connected

Some accessories stop general advertising after a phone establishes a connection.

!

Rotating identifiers

The same physical device can appear under a different identifier later.

Frequently asked questions

Should every item in iPhone Bluetooth Settings appear?+

No. Settings and a BLE scan serve different purposes and may show different sets of devices.

How long should I scan?+

Start with 15–30 seconds close to the target. Some accessories advertise less frequently to save battery.

Does restarting the iPhone help?+

It can clear a temporary radio or permission issue, but it cannot make a powered-off or non-advertising device detectable.
