Bluetooth device not showing in a scanner
A Bluetooth device not showing in iPhone Settings is a pairing problem; a device missing from Bluetooth Finder may simply not be advertising BLE. First enable Bluetooth and the app’s Bluetooth permission. If the accessory is lost, search its likely location. Charge or put it in pairing mode only when you have it in your hands.
The device is lost and missing from the scanner
Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth and allow Bluetooth Finder. Check that Bluetooth is enabled in Settings. Scan the likely room, then other places you last used the item. Do not remove it from your manufacturer account or reset its setup just to make it appear.
- A closed case, sleeping radio or depleted battery can stop useful advertisements.
- Try the manufacturer finder for a last-known location or supported offline-network result.
- An unnamed signal may be another device. Confirm candidates physically.
The accessory is in your hands but not in iPhone Settings
Follow the manufacturer pairing instructions for that model. This is a connection test, not a way to locate something missing.
- Charge and turn on the accessory, then place it close to the iPhone.
- Put it in the documented discovery or pairing mode.
- If it is paired to another device, disconnect it there as directed by the manufacturer.
- Restart the accessory and retry. Follow Apple’s troubleshooting if pairing still fails.
It connects to the iPhone but is absent from the BLE scan
iPhone Bluetooth Settings and a BLE scanner do not list the same things. Settings can show saved or Classic Bluetooth devices; Bluetooth Finder needs current BLE advertisements visible to iOS. An active connection can also change what an accessory advertises.
- Allow a short scan to collect multiple advertisements; there is no universal wait that makes every model appear.
- If you have the accessory, compare a scan with it on and off to help identify the entry.
- Use only the manufacturer’s supported controls; do not factory-reset a lost device as a discovery step.
The device appears, but the signal keeps changing
Once the same candidate is visible, switch to the RSSI guide to compare several readings. Repeatedly changing pairing settings will not turn a signal reading into an exact location.
Start with a Bluetooth scan.
Open Bluetooth Finder, choose a likely device and move slowly. A rising signal is a useful clue that you are getting closer.
